What is perlite Perlite is a generic name for naturaily occurring siliceous volcanic rock readily available throughout the world. When perlite ore is rapidly heated to about 850 - 1150 C,it expands up to 35 times its original voiume and returns to a tiny glass- light weight and exceptional physical properties of expanded perlite. It is these light weight glass- like bubbles that are milled and classified under stringent quality control conditions to produce expanded perlite products. The main uses for expanded perlite are:
1- Industry: There are so many uses of perlite for industrial purposes such as: Filtration: Perlite filter aids do not impart taste, color or odor to liquids being filterd and they are virtually insoludle in minerals and organic acids at all temperatures. Applications of perlite filter aids: Food processing: Corn Syrup (Glucose),Fruit Juices,Sugar,Citric Acid and vegetadle oils. Industrial: Water Treatment, Oill Recovery, Greases and Disposal water. Chemical: Organic & Inorganic Chemicals, Resins, Polymers, Fertilizers and Sulfuric Acid. Different uses: Waxes, Oils, Varnish, Gums and paints. Cryogenic perlite is used to fill liquidized gas storage tanks.
2 - Construction: Because of its high heat and sound insulatin character, perlite is mixed with piasters to achieve the best soiution for heat losses and noise pollution.
3- Horticulture: Because of its water keeping property ,thin expanded perlite layer is sprinkled under soil which will arrange enough water for seeds and plants.
